Clan Maul

The High House of Ropes. Maul values craftsmanship over anything else; whether it is proficiency with a needle and thread, a mason’s hammer, or an assassin’s blade is irrelevant. They also believe that crimes damaging enclave crafts or trade should be severely punished. The convictions of the Maulites pertain to individual freedom and responsibility. They believe that people should be left alone to live their lives as they see fit, but that there are certain things that must be punished severely, such as theft and vandalism – essentially anything that harms craft or trade. Murder or treason is judged on a case by case basis, but they seldom show leniency in such matters. Members of the High House of Ropes value tradition greatly and can be equally impressed by - and value equally - an assassin’s skills the same as the skills of the weaver or miller. Clan Maul has a friendly relationship with Clan Silver and respects Clan Torque.

Clan Rune

The High House of Shrines. Rune values secrets that are kept, and secrets that are found. Knowledge is key, learning ancient knowledge is even better. Reverence towards the ideals and teachings of ancestors are fundamental to a Runite, encompassing the knowledge of tactics, hand-to-hand combat, religion, craftsmanship, statecraft and the arts. Clan Rune believes that whatever it is that drives a being; conflict, trade or science, none of these can be impure as long as one does them for the good of the enclave and for their ancestors. The tradition of the High House of Shrines is more cult-like and fabulous than those of the other clans, since they revere the ancestors of the enclave, have great respect for the memory of the dead and the passing on of lore or legends. Their followers include a wide range of craftsmen, warriors, and adventurers. Especially the latter since Runites have a fondness for relics and artifacts. They believe that only through studying the past and the legends of ancestors can the enclave grow to be powerful enough to rid themselves of the dangers that they have been warned about in the old prophecies.

Clan Silver

The High House of Moons. Silver expects its members to be proficient at taking advantage of every situation; whether that benefits the clan politically, socially or financially is considered of equal importance. In spite of the fortune-seeker nature of the clan, they are also very charitable and actively encourage and fund academic study. Clan Silver believes in trade above all and encourages their people and members to seek out an advantage in every opportunity and situation. Among the Silverites you will find traders and jewelers, herdsmen and peasants, but also warriors and mercenaries. The High House of Moons greatly appreciates the efforts of those willing to protect their wealth. They even tend to forgive rather than punish those who shed blood for the sake of protecting wealth and its generators, although they would never consider murder to be a profitable venture. At the same time, when they are wealthy they spend their money not only on themselves, but also on research in science and medicine, or for charities. Members of the Silver can be very generous and pleasant folk – and most of them seem rather sincere in their drive to stimulate economical growth for the enclave. Clan Silver has a friendly relationship with all of the other clans, but especially so with Clan Maul and to a lesser extent Clan Rune.

Clan Torque

The High House of Scales. Torque is a clan in which responsibility, physical prowess and arts are greatly appreciated. They are natural leaders and value – and protect – all of the other clans. Torqites usually display exceptional valor and heroism. The High House of Scales has a track record of creating heroes, rulers and champions. Torque warriors make up the bulk of the military forces of the enclave, and they are very proud of it. Yet in spite of their competitive nature, they understand the need for stability and structure. The members of Clan Torque defend other clans of the enclave regardless of the cost or gain, as they seek members of all classes to join their ranks in the hope that one day the enclave will be ruled by the vote of many instead of a few privileged individuals. They admire the arts, such as poetry, sculpting and dance, and take great joy in sports. Many of the clans look upon them as the big dumb brother of the enclave, but they are mistaken. There are many sages in the High House of Scales, and many scientists as well. Clan Torque regards all other clans as their equals and favors none.
